Quebec and the American Revolution
Diplomatic efforts by the British government emphasized the preservation of Quebec's cultural identity within the empire. Military defense against American invasion attempts also bolstered Quebec's loyalty. Despite overtures from the Continental Congress, including the 1777 Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, Quebec ultimately remained steadfast in its allegiance to the British Crown.
